Blogger Foreword: The as yet unposted public comment is what I said, and it came after Terri Vechery's remarks. Since it is not dependent on Terri's comments, but addresses some of what Jeff said and the situation in general, it is going here. Trying to insert it after people have begun reading these installments of the blog is unwieldy. So here goes:
Carole Pollard: I think what Jeff said was pretty eloquent. The idea of a meeting that pulls everyone together--all four of the original committees plus the task force-- with the express purpose of moving forward with the master plan [is good]. I suspect we are closer to having the master plan than it sounded for a while.
The master plan and business plan can be developed concurrently and without waiting to do one and then the other. The building can also be used while those things are being done. The building is usable now. Now with dust everywhere and holes in the walls, we will have to work around that.
What I really want to urge is an idea that I ran across years ago.
The obstacles are not something that should stop you. They are the things that show you the path to success. So the question is how do we deal with this, and how do we overcome it, and how do we gain use out of this?
The elevator was thrown up as an obstacle for a couple of years. It was an obstacle. Well, look what has happened. We are going to have an elevator one way or another, and Lisa Reeves deserves a golden something or other for the work she has put in on our behalf. The obstacles are speed bumps. They are not Berlin walls.

Pollard: The biggest leaps of progress we have made are the times we have leaned on Todd Peetz. He has managed to smooth things over and pull them together.

But I urge you to go back and see how many times in the past two months exactly the idea of getting Todd Peetz back has come up--with no action. You are what you do, not what you say. Trustees' decisions are in the official minutes, available on request from the Mantua Township Fiscal Officer, Jodi Thompson, at 330-274-8443. The Township charges 10 cents per page. FAX, 330-274-8447. E-mail, fiscalofficer@mantuatownshipohio.gov. The minutes are also posted on the website after they have been approved. That means that there is usually a two-week lag between a given meeting and the minutes being available to read on the website.
Since meetings are the first and third Thursdays of the month, there is a three-week wait during months with five Thursdays.
Other items of interest or the writer's opinions will be included from time to time, clearly identified.
This is not a forum or chat room, but a source of information, so it is closed to outside input.
During the time I have been doing the blog, the posts have expanded to become very detailed accounts of the meetings. Doing that is time consuming, to say the least, and I am going to try to return to the public comment focus, with background and perspective (and the occasional pointed editorial comment). Such additions are usually enclosed in brackets. However, since some extended accounts of the meetings reveal significant things--and character--better than I could by commenting, there will probably still be a fair amount of semi-transcript. (Sigh.)
My thanks to the readers who have found the blog, and to the ones who from time to time tell me that they value it. You have encouraged me when the tedious work of keyboarding has made me wonder why I am doing this. Then you have reminded me, and I am grateful.
